Legacy Golf Course first opened for play in September 1, 1990.The course was designed by Hale Irwin. The Granite City Park District took ownership of the course in October 2009.
This is a flat, links-style course. The greens are well bunkered. Nine lakes are scattered throughout the layout.

Watch out for # 17, a 406-yard par-4 challenge and the #1 handicap hole on the course. The easiest hole is # 4, a 365 yard par-4.
#7 at The Legacy Golf Course is a risk/reward par 4. Long hitters can take advantage of the dogleg left and leave only a wedge into the green. Others will be best suited to play it safe and hit a mid-iron into this relatively flat green. Par on this hole is usually a good score.
